This Sunday, November 18 is the Area-wide Praise Service at the Florissant Church. We encourage you to attend with your family. IF YOU ARE A TEEN – and your family is not going but you would like to go, you can catch a ride with Mike. He will leave the building at 5:15 and will take the church van if there there is enough. Mike should return around 9 PM – hopefully sooner but we have to clean up. IF YOU WANT A RIDE, contact Mike at email@example.com or call or text at 317.796.8720. IF YOU ARE DRIVING ON YOUR OWN, you will definitely want to be there by 6:30 as the show is 1 1/2 hours long and will last for the duration of our time together.
I strongly urge our teens to be there. We will tackle some pretty heavy issues that MOST of you face on a daily basis!
PARENTS (and Teens) – The teen portion of the Area-wide Praise Service will be a little different this year. We are hosting Breakdown St. Louis, a hard-hitting drama group that uses music and multi-media to share their message. I strongly suggest that you read the “opt-out” letter information below – especially if you have younger middle-schoolers. If you would like to attend the presentation, you are more than welcome to – it should definitely bring up some conversations at home. As a parent, if you do attend we ask that if it is crowded, you defer any seating to the teens and stand along the back walls. The other option is that you take your young middle-schooler with you to the Adult Service.
November 7, 2012
This letter is to inform you about a presentation that will be taking place at Florissant Church of Christ’s Areawide Praise Service on Sunday, November 18, 2012. The presentation will deal with positive choices surrounding the issues of relationships, sex, drugs, alcohol, bullying, self-harm and suicide.
A team of young people known as BreakDown STL will present these topics. BreakDown STL is the new generation of Edutainment, bringing a message of self-control and hope to a generation looking for the REAL thing. This fast paced, high-energy performance is designed specifically for this generation and tackles the tough issues of sexual abstinence until marriage, teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, second chances, self-harm, bullying, teen relationships, date rape, alcohol, drugs and much more. BreakDown STL uses several different approaches to addressing these issues. Through music, dance, drama, inspirational speaking, video and more teens are engaged and educated as well as entertained.
